This is the most classic and versatile laying pattern and has been used in homes around the world for centuries. The long lines of a plank floor create a calm and spacious image that suits virtually any interior. The width and length of the planks allow the natural grain of the oak to shine: the grain patterns, knots and colour variations tell the story of the wood. Yes, thanks to the 4 mm oak top layer, a plank floor can be sanded and refinished multiple times. This makes the floor a long-term investment — with proper maintenance it will last for decades.
The rule of thumb is: lay the planks lengthwise in the room or towards the window (the light source). This visually enlarges the space. In L-shaped or open-plan spaces, diagonal installation can create a beautiful effect. Consult your floor installer for the best advice.
